A great example of the flexibility and richness of the genotype and its impact on the phenotype can be provided by African elephants. A TV show entitled “Africa’s Forgotten Elephants” (with Cynthia Moss as expert) was fascinating, showing how much impact selective forces in the environment can have on critters.
