    A great example of the flexibility and richness of the genotype and its impact on the phenotype can be provided by African elephants. A TV show entitled “Africa’s Forgotten Elephants” (with Cynthia Moss as expert) was fascinating, showing how much impact selective forces in the environment can have on critters. The most famous African elephants are plains elephants from Amboseli (in Kenya, I think) They are the “standard” elephants—big, broad-tusked. Forest elephants from Congo are different in:
